2026 marks the release of the Silverado EV's long-awaited Trail Boss trim. Chevy hinted that an off-road-ready electric truck would join the family back in 2022, but it's finally made good on its promise and introduced this trim to replace the Chevy RST electric truck. We shine a spotlight on this eco-friendly adventurer and other changes to the Chevrolet Silverado EV lineup in 2026.

Latest Performance and Range Specifications

Like the other Silverado EVs, the Trail Boss is powered by a pair of electric motors. There's no standard battery pack. The Extended battery, which has a predicted range of 410 miles, is the default option. If you plan on traveling further to Lake Louise or Redwood National Park, consider upgrading to the Max battery pack, which has a predicted range of 478 miles. The best range for a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV comes from the WT with a Max pack, which can travel approximately 493 miles. All these numbers are slightly better than the 2025 Silverado EV range specs.

Both battery options see the Trail Boss' power output sitting between the base WT trim, which makes 510 ponies, and the LT, which makes 760. With the Extended pack, the Trail Boss generates 625 hp. The Max pack boosts power up to 725 hp when it's operating in Wide Open Watts Mode.

Interior and Exterior Design Changes

There are three new exterior colors exclusive to the Trail Boss trim: White Sands, Polar White Tricoat, and Magnus Gray Matte Metallic. Chevrolet has also scrapped its Zephyr Blue Matte Metallic paint in 2026. The Trail Boss's cabin has more in common with the premium LT model than the base WT. Both trims feature creature comforts like heated and cooled seats, premium materials, and an optional sunroof.

Infotainment and Technology Enhancements

The big tech news for 2026 is the impending introduction of an optional digital key. This feature will let you use your smartphone to enter your 2026 Silverado EV and operate certain functions. While it's not available yet, expect it to come via an over-the-air update within the model year.

Towing Capacity and Utility Capabilities

The Silverado EVs with the best towing capacity are the models with the Extended packs. Each trim is rated to tow 12,500 lb so you should have no problems pulling a large boat to Puget Sound or a large camper to Capitol Forest. The Trail Boss with the Max pack isn't that far behind, with a towing capacity of 10,200 lb.
